The Bletchley Park Winter Lecture Series 2008-2009

The Winter Lecture Series will be held on the second Thursday of each month from October 2008 through to April 2009, excluding December. All the lectures will be held in the Mansion, and whenever possible in the Ballroom. Lectures start at 7.30pm and the Mansion is open from 6.30pm. We will endeavour to have a selection of items from the Trust’s shop available in the Mansion before and after our lectures. The ticket price includes a glass of wine, orange juice or coffee after the lecture. Admission charges are as follows:
 * single lecture   £10.00
 * season ticket for all six lectures £50.00

Andrew is a former foreign correspondent specialising in Africa and the Middle East and one of Britain’s leading biographers. His subjects have included Ian Fleming, Rudyard Kipling, Dylan Thomas and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The Warsaw Uprising 1944: German Policy by Joanna Hanson
Dr Hanson is a Senior Research Officer at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. She has written a book about the civilian experiences during the Warsaw Uprising. She is a member of the Polish Historical Committee investigating the Polish Intelligence efforts during WWII.

Personality Clashes & Power Struggles in the Early History of Radar by Phil Judkin

Philip is a leading member of the Defence Electronics Group and is an authority on WWII electronic warfare. His lecture will present a human aspect of radar use.

Michael has a passionate interest in WWII Polish Military matters and has researched and written about many aspects of Polish Second World War history.

Peter is a founder member of the Bletchley Park Trust who has researched many aspects of the Bletchley Park story.

Besides the lectures detailed above, we are planning a visit to The Projected Picture Trust’s Cinema for our annual Film Show on 11th December 2008. This event is limited to 50 tickets and is not included in the season ticket. Tickets cost £10.00 and must be booked and paid for before the night. Friends and Freedom of BP discounts apply. Mince pies and wine will be served in the interval.
