There was something called Namco (a sort of enriched cocoa) which a benevolent government issued to under 21 years. It was often superior in taste and quality to what passed for “cocoa” during the war. I was the only one on my watch who qualified for the ration so everyone was most particular that I never failed to collect my allowance. It was then, of course, drunk by all and much appreciated at 3 am.
